Why buy a new drum if you don’t need to?
This drum will usually produce good quality prints for much longer than it’s stated lifetime. However the manufacturer has installed a built-in counter to make sure that you replace the drum at certain intervals to maintain image quality. In nearly all cases it is not necessary to replace the drum. If the drum was printing with good quality before displaying “Replace Drum Unit” message, the drum will work correctly with a new chip installed which will reset the counter to 100% again.
