Applications of Omnirad 184 CAS 947-19-3

Omnirad 184, also known as Omnirad 184 is one kind of Norish type I Omnirad. Its chemical name is 1-Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone, short for HCPK. Omnirad 184 produces free radicals after absorbing certain wavelength energy, which initiating the polymerization of monomers or oligomers.

1-Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone is one of the most commonly used photoinitiators, with high initiation efficiency, excellent thermal stability and yellowing resistance. Its maximum absorption wavelength is 333 nm. Omnirad 184 is mainly used to initiate the rapid curing of acrylate and methacrylate systems. The reference dosage is 2%-4%.

As its good yellowing resistance, Omnirad 184 is particularly recommended for UV curing coatings that need to expose to sunlight for a long time. The yellowing of polyurethane and acrylic acid systems can be improved by adding light stabilizer TINUVIN 292.

As test being made, Omnirad 184 is good to be used in plastic coatings, wood coatings, adhesives, copy varnish,  lithographic printing ink, screen printing ink, flexographic ink, electronic products, etc. It is generally added together with other photoinitiators, and can be used with ultraviolet absorbents when needed.
